The Reconstructed Section of Road P35 from Litene to Balvi Has Been Opened
On 2 October, the reconstructed section of the regional road Gulbene–Balvi–Viļaka–Russian border (Vientuļi) (P35), from Litene to Balvi (km 17.47–32.34), was officially opened in Kubuli, Balvi Municipality. The construction works were carried out by SIA ACBR, commissioned by the state-owned company Latvijas Valsts ceļi.
During two construction seasons, approximately 15 km of road was reconstructed, improving its technical condition and traffic safety. The project included the reconstruction of the road pavement structure, the installation of three layers of asphalt concrete surfacing, improvements to the drainage system, and the installation of road equipment.
Bridge infrastructure was also significantly improved, with reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out on four bridges. Two bridges were replaced with new steel culverts, while the remaining bridges underwent the necessary reconstruction and rehabilitation works.
Particular attention was paid to the safety of vulnerable road users. A approximately 3.1 km long asphalt-surfaced pedestrian and cycling path with lighting was built between Kubuli and Balvi, connecting to the existing infrastructure in Balvi.
