A.C.B. specialises in the management and performance of airport construction works, which is carried out by a duly qualified team of professionals, making it possible to carry out work in the most demanding and complicated circumstances. The A.C.B. Group can carry out runway, taxiway, airport aprons and de-icing pad construction works, drainage and rainwater runoff network construction works, as well as airstrip maintenance.

Airport Construction Works:

Apron and airplane de-icing treatment pad construction works:

apron and de-icing treatment pad measurement and demarcation works, removal of surplus plant earth and soil removal, dismantling of various structures, application of geomaterials for the division and reinforcement of the earth bed or structural layers, freeze resistant layer construction, chip base construction, asphalt surface sub-layer and surface layer construction, landscaping works and application of horizontal markings, rainwater sewerage construction works, gutter construction works, as well as installation of decontamination equipment.

Taxiway Construction Works:

taxiway measurement and demarcation works, removal of surplus plant earth and division and reinforcement of the earth bed or structural layers, freeze resistant layer construction, chip base construction, taxiway asphalt surface sub-layer and surface layer construction, landscaping works and application of horizontal markings.

Runway Reconstruction:

runway asphalt surface replacement (asphalt milling, asphalt binding layer embedding, asphalt friction course construction), repair work to existing cracks, runway edge concrete surface repair and asphalt laying, application of horizontal designations.

Drainage and Rainwater Runoff Construction Works:

new rainwater sewerage collector construction works within the airport territory, drainage and land reclamation system construction works, runoff ditch construction and to slope reinforcements works, installation of fire extinguishing tailing dams.

Airstrip Maintenance:

Plant soil removal, dismantling of old communications wells, application of airstrip reinforcement material, landscaping works.

A.C.B. specialises in the performance of airport construction works. The professionalism and experience of our employees guarantees the performance of works in accordance with all requirements and standards.

Our experience to date proves that we are also capable of carrying out work at functioning airfields, ensuring continuous air traffic, organising work in several shifts and taking into account specific restrictions on the performance of works at airfields.

Our ability to combine and coordinate the work of numerous contractors means that A.C.B. Group can not only carry out work at airports using its own means, but also implement airfield project management at a highly professional level.

Airfield Construction Works Carried Out by the A.C.B. Group:

Construction works are being carried out by a general partnership of FCC, Hochtief and A.C.B. Timeframe for the performance of construction works: 16 months. The main elements of the project are runway surface reconstruction, full reconstruction of the second and third aprons, construction of northern and southern de-icing treatment pads and construction of new rapid exit path D, construction of taxiway E construction, construction of a new drainage and land reclamation system, as well as modernisation of the landing approach light system and equipping of taxiways with a CATII compatible light system and runway airstrip reinforcement and reinforcement of the northern end of the runway safety zone.

Preparation and dismantling works:

mobilization, measurement, asphalt surface milling, concrete surface dismantling and processing into chipping material, removal of surplus soil and levelling, dismantling and installation of various structures.

Earth works:

soil removal, trench and mound formation, application of geomaterials for the division and reinforcement of the earth bed or structural layers, airstrip reinforcement works using reinforcing material, green zone maintenance.

Construction of structural layers not bound by binders:

freeze resistant layer construction, chip base construction.

Construction of structural layers bound by binders:

  • runway surface top layer renovation – filling in existing cracks, asphalt sub-layer laying, laying a thin layer of asphalt on the top layer of the surface (these works were only carried out at night when the airfield was closed to air traffic);
  • renovation of taxiway asphalt surfaces, airplane de-icing treatment pad asphalt surface structure construction;
  • construction of asphalt surfaces for airfield service roads, areas and aprons.

Culvert and construct formation:

new rainwater sewerage collector construction works within the airport territory, drainage and land reclamation system construction works, runoff ditch construction and to slope reinforcements works, installation of fire extinguishing tailing dams.

Equipment works:

horizontal designation application works.

The A.C.B. Group carried out construction work in collaboration with its main partner: Ikiz Construction. The construction works had to be carried out over a 20 month period. The main elements of the project were the construction of a 2.5 km long taxiway, as well as the construction of an apron for NATO aircraft spanning an area of 11,000 m2, construction of an apron for incoming transit planes spanning 19,000 m2, creation of an NAF AF apron spanning 11,500 m2, construction of an individual parking pad for NAF AF helicopters spanning 11,000 m2, as well as the creation of a range of smaller aprons and areas. A new land reclamation system was also established under the entire airfield territory, in order to ensure the lowering of the high groundwater level and to allow the airfield to operate successfully in any weather conditions. Under the auspices of the project, lighting was installed on aprons as well as lamps that ensure optimal aircraft traffic along the taxiway. The surrounding area was landscaped, removing bushes and trees in overgrown areas, flattening and levelling out the surrounding relief, thus ensuring the safe and effective operation of the base. Approximately 20 buildings of various sizes located on the grounds of the base were dismantled.

Preparation and dismantling works:

mobilization, measurement, asphalt surface milling, concrete surface dismantling and processing into chipping material, concrete slab dismantling, removal of surplus soil and levelling, dismantling and installation of various structures.

Earth works:

soil removal, trench and mound formation, application of geomaterials for the division and reinforcement of the earth bed or structural layers, green zone maintenance.

Construction of structural layers not bound by binders:

freeze resistant layer construction, chip base construction.

Construction of structural layers bound by binders:

construction of all four taxiway asphalt layers, construction of the asphalt surfaces for various areas, renovation of the airport patrol route asphalt surface, lightweight concrete layer construction, concrete surface construction.

Culvert and construct formation:

new rainwater sewerage collector construction works within the airport territory, drainage and land reclamation system construction works, runoff ditch construction and to slope reinforcements works.

Equipment works:

horizontal designation application works, lighting construction, installation of vertical warning signs.
